The City Tabernacle Baptist Church is committed to the support of missionaries who on our behalf have been willing to take the message of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to people in other places around the world. At present we are actively supporting the work of Global Interaction, which is the Australian Baptist missionary organisation, together with other who are listed on this page.

Global Interaction

Dwight & Margaret Hartzler

serving with SIL

I joined SIL in 1971 and Margaret joined in 1972 right after we got married. We have been working in Papua, Indonesia since 1975. Margaret was became a member of the City Tabernacle in 1965 and I suppose I became a City Tabernacle in-law when we got married.

Presently Margaret is serving as director of Hillcrest International School where practically all the MKs in this area attend.

I (Dwight) am primarily occupied as the translation coordinator for Papua and do translation checking and consulting for the various other SIL translation teams that are working here in Papua. I also still do some work with the Sentani people for whom we completed a translation in 1999.

Jenny Austin
serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators

I joined Wycliffe in 1984, serving in Papua New Guinea as a linguistic worker and in various support roles including Pacific Orientation Course staff worker, tutor to national translators, Technical Studies Department staff, and writer in SIL PNG’s media department. I then worked in the media department of our national centre in Melbourne as a writer for two years. When I moved to Brisbane, I joined the Tabernacle on 3rd January 1993, and served in the choir and on the missionary committee. I was commissioned by the Tabernacle on 27th November 1994 to work with the regional team in the Brisbane Wycliffe office. I was there for nearly 10 years before moving back to the national centre in 2003 to take up my current role as Assignments Coordinator.
